How do I get information about my pet's medication in petsXL?

Ask your veterinary practice whether they can provide you with your medication documents such as instructions for use, application and dispensing receipts, vaccination and stock records or prescriptions in petsXL. You will then receive a notification and find the documents directly in your Timeline. If you want to get an overview of all medications for an individual animal, go to the tablet symbol in the animal's Health record.

If you are not yet connected to a veterinary practice with the animal, you can make a connection request there directly.

Can I have petsXL remind me to administer medication?

Yes, as soon as your veterinary practice sends medication information to petsXL, you will find a message in your timeline. This contains all the information you need to provide your pet with the best possible medication. Create a reminder so that petsXL can conveniently remind you of every single dose.

If you receive an invoice or receipt with medication via petsXL, you will automatically be asked whether you would like to create a reminder for the administration of the medication.

How do I set reminders for administering medication in petsXL?

1. Select New medication > Set reminder under the timeline entry.

2. Now fill in all the fields using the instructions from the product message from your veterinary practice:

   Administration

   1. If necessary, select information on the administration (this is only possible for some medications). If you make a selection, the weight range will be displayed: Check whether the medication matches your pet's current weight. In addition, all other fields under Administation are then pre-filled and therefore only need to be checked.

   2. Dosage form: Select an entry, for example tablet.

   3. Type of administration: Select an entry, for example oral.

   4. Dosage: Enter the quantities that your pet should receive with each administration.

   5. Package content: Enter the total amount you have received from your veterinary practice.

   Therapy plan

   1. Start of therapy: Enter the start date of the therapy.

   2. End of therapy: Choose between Used up, Fixed date (enter the end date) and Number of days (time until the last administration with a choice between Day(s), Week(s ) and Month(s)).

   3. Interval: Number field with selection between Day( s), Week ( s) and Month( s). For example, enter "1 day(s)" here if you want to administer the medication daily.

   4. Reminders: Here you enter the time at which you would like to be reminded to administer the medication(s). You can enter several reminders via Add to set multiple doses per day. You can delete reminders via the wastebasket symbol .

   Duration

   Here you can see a summary of how many reminders are pending and until when the medication should be given.

3. Select Save to finalise the setting of the reminders.

The reminders are now listed under the list symbol Tasks. If required, filter by Animal, Vet, Type and Medication via the controller . You will also find all due reminders in the Timeline.

If your veterinary practice subsequently sends you further information about the medication in petsXL, you will receive a message that reminders should be checked.

An email and/or push notification can be sent for each reminder. You can select how you want to be reminded in your Account.

How can I edit medication reminders?

All reminders already created for the administration of a medication can be customised as required. Medication administered in the past will not be affected.

1. Go to the tablet symbol in the animal's Health record and select the desired medication .
2. Select Edit reminder below the desired medication .
3. Customise the reminder according to your wishes.
4. Confirm with Save.

If some of the medication needs to be discarded, for example because you lose a tablet, you should adjust the Package contents field in the reminder. For example, if you have lost one tablet from a pack of 10 tablets, you must adjust the pack contents to 9. You will then be reminded well enough in advance to get a new pack.

How can I delete medication reminders?

1. Go to the tablet symbol in the animal's Health record.
2. Select Delete reminder below the desired medication .
3. Confirm with Delete.

How can I enter a medication administration in petsXL?

1. Select under the upcoming medication administration > Confirm administration.

2. Edit the Date and Time of administration if necessary.

3. Confirm with Done.

The medication administration is now in green.

If you are unable to administer a medication, simply select Not done instead of Done. This allows you to record for your vet whether all the medication has been administered. Medications that have not been administered are marked in red.

If you have any difficulties administering medication, you should always consult your veterinary practice.

How can I edit an individual medication administration in petsXL?

1. Go under the list symbol Tasks to the desired medication .

2. Select Change administration status.

3. Edit the Date and Time of administration if necessary.

4. Select Done or Not done.

How do I make an appointment for medication replenishment?

If a medication is running low, you will be immediately suggested to make an appointment to get a refill.

1. Select below the medication > Make an appointment.

2. Make an appointment with your veterinary practice as usual. The field Further information is already pre-filled with details from the previous medication.

Can I create medication reminders myself?

No, reminders can currently only be created if your veterinary practice has previously sent medication information to petsXL.
